The Mandarin class with Izzati Laoshi provides a very fun and supportive learning environment, with people from different backgrounds and ages encouraging me to practice the language. One of the most interesting experiences was learning how to have proper conversations in Mandarin and actually practicing them in real-life situations. I’m slowly starting to understand conversations and gain confidence to reply and join in. Learning Mandarin has been challenging but fun, and I’m happy with my progress. The class is always interactive, with lots of ways to engage students, and the lessons are always related to real-life situations, which makes learning enjoyable.

For me, the online class sessions are very engaging and never boring. Turning on the camera and having two-way audio makes the class interactive, and I truly enjoy the learning experience. I’m really glad to get to know Bunga Laoshi. Her teaching is fun, and I can understand the lessons much better, xiexie! I can now speak a bit of Mandarin with my friends and understand some of the way native speakers talk. I really appreciate how Izzati Laoshi constantly checks our understanding throughout the class, corrects our pronunciation, and reminds us about tones while guiding us step by step. She always encourages us to construct sentences and gently corrects us, which helps reinforce grammar in a very supportive way. Bunga Laoshi is very patient and always engages with every student in class. The syllabus is full of useful information, and it really helps to practice through homework. Learning Mandarin has been helpful for me as I can now understand my work colleagues when they speak simple sentences. One of the challenges is finding someone to practice with, so I usually plan earlier with my partner, and I feel more confident taking exams when I’m well prepared. I can understand simple questions and replies, and I also make an effort to improve my listening skills by following Mandarin content and listening to Chinese songs to learn pronunciation.
