The class with Agnes Laoshi was interactive and fun, with a friendly, supportive, and funny laoshi 🙂 It was my first time learning Mandarin in a group setting, and I really enjoyed it. I can now understand simple conversations and even talk with Mandarin-speaking friends. Learning Mandarin is definitely challenging, especially the intonations, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far. Thank you, Agnes Laoshi, for being patient, supportive, and making it easy and joyful to learn the language!

Learning Mandarin can be quite difficult, but Izzati Laoshi turns every lesson into an adventure with engaging conversation practices that keep us excited to learn. One of my most interesting memories was completing an assignment where I had to find a Chinese friend and even bargain in Mandarin, which was a fun and practical way to build my confidence. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand basic conversations, and I can now speak a bit with my friend. Although it can be challenging, I’m really enjoying the journey and looking forward to learning more in the next level (Hanzi Class). I love how Ain lǎoshī handles the class in a fun and structured way, with a clear voice, always smiling, friendly, and using simple sentences that are easy to understand. Memorising the Self Introduction assignment helped me remember the dialogue and speak confidently in front of others. I can now say a few sentences in Mandarin and understand a bit when people speak it. The class is fun and challenging, and for the next level, I’ll definitely enroll in Ain lǎoshī’s class again because of the happy and friendly environment and her excellent Mandarin skills.

One wow factor of my Mandarin class is how interactive and fun the lessons are, with games, role plays, and real-life scenarios. I also love how we explore Chinese culture, which makes learning more exciting and meaningful. My most interesting memory was gaining new friends through Mandarin and feeling really proud when I wrote my own script, spoke confidently, and created a video using what I learned. For me, the online class sessions are very engaging and never boring. Turning on the camera and having two-way audio makes the class interactive, and I truly enjoy the learning experience. Izzati lǎoshī is very attentive and ensures we stay focused. My most interesting memory is when lǎoshī calls my name to answer questions. Though a bit nerve-wracking, it keeps me alert and has improved my confidence. Learning Mandarin has brought many benefits to daily life, from communicating with Chinese neighbors and colleagues to teaching my child basic Chinese. After receiving my HSK1 result, I became more enthusiastic and determined. Overall, learning Mandarin is challenging but enjoyable and rewarding, boosting my confidence in daily use. I love how fun she is when teaching, and how she explains things so well with great enthusiasm. One of my most memorable experiences was taking the HSK exam for the first time and feeling so nervous, but everyone was very welcoming and never made fun of mistakes. Learning Mandarin has helped me gain confidence to speak with my Chinese friends, and I believe it will also help me get better job opportunities in the future. Although it can be challenging and tough, it’s all worth it, and the journey of learning Mandarin has been truly spectacular. My Mandarin class with Ika lǎoshī is super fun and lively, she makes every lesson something to look forward to! She is friendly and always encourages us to speak up, even when we make mistakes, which makes learning feel easy. My most interesting memory was doing a role-play as buyers and sellers at the end of class; everyone, including Ika lǎoshī, had a great time. Learning Mandarin has helped me understand simple Chinese characters and conversations, and speak more with my Chinese friends. Kunkwan Mandarin class stands out with its flexible schedule, rich resources like interactive lessons and multimedia tools, and friendly, experienced teachers who make learning fun and engaging. One of my favourite memories was studying Mandarin with fellow Kunkwan friends at a cozy café, where we spent the day chatting in Chinese, laughing over pronunciation mistakes, and finishing our homework together, making learning feel fun and memorable. Learning Mandarin has opened a door to a new world, helping me appreciate Chinese culture more deeply and even recognize Chinese loanwords in Malay like “tapau.” As a Japanese speaker, it also helped me bridge language barriers at work, improving communication between my Chinese and Japanese colleagues. Learning with Minqi Laoshi since Level A has been such a fun journey! She is very friendly and engaging throughout the class, and even outside class, she supports any questions we have about the Mandarin language. One of my proudest moments was writing a full sentence in Pinyin with accurate tones. The role-playing sessions were entertaining and funny, especially when some of us brought props to act out the scenarios. I’m now able to understand general conversations in daily life, which has boosted my confidence as I love learning languages. I really appreciate how Izzati Laoshi constantly checks our understanding throughout the class, corrects our pronunciation, and reminds us about tones while guiding us step by step. She always encourages us to construct sentences and gently corrects us, which helps reinforce grammar in a very supportive way. As an older learner, I used to be afraid of making mistakes, but KunKwan provides a safe and comfortable environment to learn from them. Even though the classes are online, they are still very interactive and engaging. The learning experience also reminds me of my Nihongo days, especially when memorizing characters, and I find it fun how Hanzi is taught in a more visual and engaging way. One of my most memorable experiences was completing an assignment where I had to interview a stranger, which turned out to be both challenging and rewarding. Learning Mandarin has helped me in daily situations like shopping or visiting the hospital, and I now enjoy understanding signages and picking up conversations around me, even though people speak very fast! Overall, learning Mandarin has been meaningful as it allows better connection and understanding with others in Malaysia.
